Growing Teacher Leaders Results in Increased Student Achievement
I value the teacher’s challenging job of learning the unique and individual needs of each student he/she teaches. Effective teachers know how to respond to student needs through academic and social/emotional skills instruction. I believe an effective administrator must be an active partner in the day-to-day teaching and learning structures – coaching, supporting, collaborating and working along-side teachers in order to not only support student growth, but also teacher growth.
Thank you!

Hi Kathy,
I did not get a chance to see you yesterday and I wanted to let you know that I am so thankful and appreciate the support and guidance you have given me these the past three years. Coming into this profession in the later years has been challenging within itself, and you have always been open, honest, and supportive in the challenges I faced. Your experience, advice, and validation have truly guided me to push myself to be the best educator I can be. Your impact on my growth as a teacher has been quite significant and it goes back to the very first observation and post conference I had with you. As I listened to all the amazing thoughts and insights of my teaching; I remember saying to myself “is she talking about me”. I have taken those insights and comments and used them to guide my growth as a teacher and created the expectations that I always hope to live up to.
The grad school class I am taking this semester is called K-5 Leadership: Mathematical Modeling. Recently we did a leadership activity where we defined in our words “what is a leader”. As I created my definition, it was you I was thinking about. This is what I wrote:
A leader is inspiring to others, listens, transparent and honest, values voice/opinion of others, is fair, enables people to reach their potential, thinks outside the box, is open to all perspectives and listens to them, builds relationships, has people (social) skills, communicates and follows through, positive and has a growth mindset, humorous, self-reflective, owns and learns from his/her own mistakes.
I know our paths will cross in the future, so this is not a goodbye…but a big THANK YOU to being an awesome role model!
All my best,
Kristine
